I wonder how LOWE'S is going to deal with their OBESE employees, since the Surgeon General said that Obesity has now passed smoking, alcoholism and poverty for health care and disease! Is LOWE'S going to put the OBESE employees on strict diets? Loose pounds or lose job?
More People Control! If you work at LOWE'S and are a bit overweight, beware. YOU will be NEXT!
Surgeon general warns obesity may overtake tobacco as leading preventable killer

I wonder if the driver and pit crew in NASCAR that have LOWE'S as their sponsor will have to quit smoking too!!

Well, SheLion, Lowe's certainly has the right to make such a rule. I wish it hadn't been made bcause of lies and deceit, but so goes the biscuit. On the other hand, I'd like to see those employees who smoke band together and approach management
en masse, about providing smoking areas.
One of the worst things that's happened in this War on Smokers is the apparent inability to compromise, to work out a problem, to stop short of zero tolerance in an effort to accommodate everyone.

They certainly do have the right, Max. But like you said: using lies and deception to do it. General Motors did it and SAPPI Paper Mills did it. And I hear that smokers are sneaking all over the place to grab a smoke. It's really sad, Max.
I wonder if LOWE'S remember that Tobacco is a legal commodity. Oh well.........pity.....

Perhaps Lowe's should sponsor stomach stapling for their lardasses. The Lowe's near me has some chunky employees. Time to punish them too.

Well, I guess it's ok to chew tobacco and spit on their floors.

Private Company...no matter how misguided, their rules. I haven't seen too many obese people in these kinds of stores anyway...too much walking, lifting and busy work.

Our hospitals up here did the same thing over a year ago. Can't even grab a cigarette in your own private vehicle on their lot. YET! Check this out! Look at one employee!
He's probably the nicest guy in the world, but this is HEALTHY?!

Not only do they have the right to do this, it might actually be smart. What happens when the trial lawyers start suing companies like Lowes because they let their employees smoke. They will say companies like Lowes are as much at fault as the tobacco companies in causing these poor helpless people to get cancer---
"After all, my poor client has no money and lung cancer--Lowes has billions of dollars and they encouraged her to smoke with their pro-smoking policies".
It is simply pro-active policy in this victim's world--

How is chewing (if you don't spit) going to hurt anyone other than the person chewing. There is no "second-hand chew" argument. What are they going to do, pry customers' mouths open to see if they are chewing?

So much for the government restricting smoking in private businesses. Now we have businesses going far beyond what the government dictates and banning smoking on their own private property. Being one that is opposed to government intervention on such matters I fully support Lowes from banning employee smoking on their property.
If Loewss employees do not like the policy they can quit their jobs and find a job where they are able to smoke.

They will say companies like Lowes are as much at fault as the tobacco companies in causing these poor helpless people to get cancer--- What about their obese? And don't tell me that LOWE'S doesn't have obese people working for them. When one out of 10 people in the US are obese, LOWE'S has to hire SOME of them!
How about working at LOWE'S being obese and falling dead from a heart attack at the age of 37 because of being fat? How about sueing then?
The attorneys have jumped on the bandwagon for obesity, so everyone better watch out. You/They could be next, and I'm not kidding. No one is safe.

What are they going to do, pry customers' mouths open to see if they are chewing? Probably, since it's a form of tobacco.
